What is Homeopathy
A homeopathic remedy is formed mostly from either plant, mineral or animal material. Most of these substances are used from milks or poisons, and they are not gathered by causing harm to any animal. In addition, some remedies are taken from a disease source, bacteria, fungi, micro-organisms or a vaccine. All remedies are potentized, which means they achieve extremely high dilutions through a standardised process.
Is it safe
Yes, even when the remedy is taken from a substance which is dangerous in its original form. For example, Belladonna, otherwise known as Deadly Nightshade, is a remedy in common use in homeopathy for sunstroke, amongst other symptoms.
This does not mean you have ever eaten Deadly Nightshade or that you will later get a disease from it. The remedy symptoms simply fit the pattern of your current sunstroke symptoms. This is the principle in homeopathy of “like cures like”. Since the potentizing process results in virtually no material substance left, it is not possible to get any disease from a homeopathic remedy.
All homeopathic remedies are safe and may be effective if taken in the right way and according to instruction from your homeopath. There are no side effects to homeopathic remedies.
How does it work
No-one knows for sure. What remains of the original, highly diluted material substance, it is thought, is an energetic molecular structure which mirrors, when matched, the molecular state of the patient who is ill.
Since our bodies are made up of electrical impulses, many hold the view, as I do, that there is a subtle energetic signal from each remedy (and all life) which has a resonance with our own in a certain state.
When we find the remedy match with our individual state, this prompts the body to begin its work of altering our body’s imbalance.
“Some homeopathic medicines are at low enough dilutions to contain molecules of the original substance (usually a plant or mineral) from which they are made, but others are diluted beyond the point at which you expect any molecules of the original substance to be present; it is these ‘high dilutions’ which make homeopathy controversial in certain circles”. How do homeopathic medicines work?
“I believe that humanity has an uphill battle to wage in its fight to attain real health, and I honestly believe – from hard-earned experience – that homeopathy can offer some solution to this problem” – George Vithoulkas (World renowned Homeopath).
Which illnesses can Homeopathy help with?
Homeopathy can help with many health conditions. After taking remedies some people no longer suffer from any of their symptoms, or, they have great improvement. For some conditions, a course of treatment is needed. See, also, Patient Feedback. Homeopathy looks at the individual as a whole person: your medical history, family background, experiences, mental & emotional well-being, preferences for food, climate, environmental factors, when the illness or condition came on, and any known causation. And, while it can be helpful to know a medical diagnosis, chiefly it is about symptoms: their location, duration, intensity and frequency.
This provides a picture which can be matched with a homeopathic remedy which has the same picture of your illness, of “like cures like”.
